#1. Meeting Together

Wednesday 17th March 2020

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.                       Hebrews 10 (NIV)
In these days we are going to have to find new ways to spur one another on to love and good deeds.
It is not necessarily going to be simple and we will make mistakes, but we need in these changed circumstances to make sure that we take our responsibility to one another seriously.  We will have to use phones, internet and other means.

Together we must hold onto the hope we profess.  The certain hope that God has hold of us and will not let us fall out of his grasp.  He is faithful to his people, to those who trust in Jesus and He has promised never to let us go.  This is as true today as it was a few weeks ago when Coronavirus was a word we were only just hearing.
So, let us encourage one another to focus on who God is. In the media there is only one focus at present but as Christians we must encourage each other to focus not on the virus but on the one who is faithful to his people, on the God who reveals himself through His Word, the Bible.
Each day on the blog there will be a question to reflect on and a prayer that I hope will be helpful
How can I make sure my focus is on God so that I can be encouraged and can encourage others?
This is the post communion prayer for the 2nd Sunday of Lent and seems so relevant to our current situation –
Almighty God, you see that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves: keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
